‘Together for Europe 2007’
This is a meeting supported by more than 240 Christian movements and communities, taking place at Stuttgart, Germany, on the 12th of May, 2007. Its aim is to promote an ever greater commitment to a more united, more alive, more human and more responsible Europe.
From 2004 to 2007
What came across from Together for Europe 2004 was a network of brotherhood which was developed over the last few years between movements and associations of the various Churches throughout the continent.
Stuttgart 2004-2007
At the beginning, the ‘steering committee’ was Italian and German, Catholic and Evangelical-Lutheran, but now it also has Anglican and Orthodox participation.
- In various countries, including France and the Netherlands, there is an increase in the movements committed to this journey together.
- During the months after the Stuttgart encounter, the ‘Together for Europe 2004’ meeting was held in different countries, including some outside Europe. These numerous encounters built new bridges with the European continent, giving rise to hope for peace and solutions to social conflicts.
- ‘Together for Venezuela’ (19th June, 2004) and
‘Together for Central America’ (11th September, 2005) in Salvador, were particularly impressive expressions of all the countries in the region, where a process of economic, social and spiritual integration is being brought about.

- Special attention will be paid to Africa.
- The role of young people, as expression of Europe’s future, will be important.
‘Together for Europe 2007’
also wants to contribute to the journey the Churches of Europe are making in preparation for the great European appointment to culminate at Sibiu in Romania with the Third European Ecumenical Assembly from the 4th to the 9th of September 2007.
