The 5 Keys
Binding experiences – 5 “Keys” to being together
Jesus in the midst
The realisation that Members of other Movements and Communities live according to the Gospel is a great discovery prompting us to get to know each other, experience and witness that the Risen Jesus, the one who promises that: ”For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20), truly lives among us. It is Jesus among us who unites us individually and collectively as Communities and Movements despite our great diversity.
Pact of mutual love
In our being Together we live the Pact of mutual love following Jesus’ words: “I give you a new commandment: love one another; you must love one another just as I have loved you.” (John 13:34) This love that unites us empowers our actions and choices, even as we are aware of our diverse theological views and forms of prayer.
The word of God as a shared foundation
The foundation and heart of our being Together and of all our encounters is the Lord, and faithfulness to his Gospel. Regardless of all differences between our Movements and Communities we experience the cohesive and uniting power of the Word of God and of the Holy Spirit.
Reconciliation that overcomes barriers
Our shared journey began with a mutual act of forgiveness and reconciliation for those wrongs that in the past we and our Churches inflicted upon each other. We reciprocally confessed these shortcomings, we asked for and we received forgiveness. On our way together true and deep friendships were born, enabling joint efforts to overcome, in respect of our differences, barriers that still exist among our Churches. These steps on the path towards reconciliation have given us hope for those around us, for the Churches, and for Europe as a whole.
Discover and share in others’ riches
We wish to fully respect and honour each other in our diversity, uncovering, in what can at times appear to us different and alien, the charism and grace of God. This multitude of charisms is a treasure we want to unveil and share, recognise and support, contributing in this way to advancing the Kingdom of God on Earth.
