During the annual Meeting of the Friends of TfE<\/em>, which was held in November, 14 local groups shared experiences and initiatives in their Countries. The following is the contribution offered by the group of TfE<\/em> in France.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Strasbourg<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The Strasbourg group is very worried about the climatic emergency<\/strong> and thinks that a strengthened Europe may provide a valid contribution in this area. Presently it is preparing a conference\/debate with the participation of Sven Giegold (MEP \u2013 Greens) and Jacques Muller (former mayor of Wattwiller, senator of the Haut-Rhin and a pro-climate activist). The date chosen is November 23 and the venue is the Catholic Students\u2019 Centre, a place which Schumann visited regularly.<\/p>\n

Being the city that hosts European entities, the citizens of Strasbourg have a special affinity with the issues linked to the European Union<\/strong>. The Movements and the ecclesial associations have a golden opportunity to work together in the context of Together for Europe<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Lyons<\/strong><\/h5>\n

To mark Europe Day 2021, the TfE <\/em>team in Lyons is proposing a performance loosely inspired by Laudato S\u00ec’<\/em><\/strong>, and this will be held on May 9, 2021.\u00a0This is about the closing down of the market: Ish and Isha sold very little! This leads to a humorous exchange between our two protagonists that come directly from the history of humanity.\u00a0Through powerful scenes, with an extremely simply stage setting, the public will be invited to take sides with respect to some of today\u2019s fundamental issues<\/strong>, and to discover that all things are linked to one another.<\/p>\n

Paris<\/strong><\/h5>\n

In Paris, the Deaconesses are organizing a formation course for young people at the Home of Unity. On April 13, 2021, TfE<\/em> will enliven an ecumenical evening<\/strong>, which will include reflections and prayers, and which will form part of the \u2018Prayer Journey\u2019 for 2021.<\/p>\n

We are still in contact with the Maison de l\u2019Europe<\/em> in Paris and the Municipality of Paris in view of the Europe Day<\/strong>. We plan to have a stand during the great event that is organized every year for this occasion.<\/p>\n

We are also in contact with the young people of the Focolare who will conclude their project \u2018dare to care\u2019<\/em> <\/strong>with a joyful event in Brussels as part of the Festival of Europe, on 8-9 May 2021.<\/p>\n

At national level <\/strong><\/h5>\n

The national Committee had contacts with Lebanon<\/strong> to show its solidarity with that Country, often called Lebanon-message (according to an expression of Pope John Paul II): the Country of harmonious living and friendship among the religions.
\nAs a result of the Beirut explosion, the economic and the political crises, many Lebanese have lost all hope. Their only option to live and survive is to leave the Country. The national Committee has encouraged initiatives aimed to help this Country,<\/strong> like the webinar, which various associations organized on October 15 to pray and to ask for financial aid to this Country.<\/p>\n
