On 16 September, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, delivered the State of the European Union address (SOTEU 2026) in Strasbourg, preceded by the customary opening remarks by Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament. A number of students from Rome watched the event live and then commented on it.
Award presented to Gerhard Pross in Tonadico – City of the Pact. Tonadico is a town in northern Italy, close to the border with Austria, and a popular tourist destination for those who love winter skiing or enjoying the mountains in the summer. It is in a small corner of Europe and yet at the same time—as is true for many other small towns across the Old Continent—it encompasses the whole of Europe through its history and cultural heritage.
“I am praying that we can extend the spirit of dialogue we experienced in Brussels to the whole world.” With these words, Luca, from Romania, speaks of that “something special, something great” which touched the hearts of those who took part in the Together for Europe events in Brussels from 11 to 13 May 2026.
